The brief
The future of transportation must be radically different. Cities and regions need bold visions to attract residents, reduce emissions, and boost tourism.
This project involves selecting a location and developing a unique transport vision as its USP. The vision is communicated through a graphic system, including a tourist brochure, poster, foldable map, signage, wayfinding, typography, logo, and color palette. The goal is a cohesive concept that redefines travel and mobility for the future.
project overview
For my project, I choose to develop a unique transport vision for my hometown, Malmö. The focus was on transforming unused rooftop spaces into green roofs and rooftop gardens, interconnected by elevated bridges. This offers environmental benefits, such as reducing the city's heat island effect and improving air quality, while also creating social spaces for pedestrians and cyclists.
These green rooftops can serve as relaxing areas, recreational spaces, or even be landmarks that attract tourists, offering a unique perspective of Malmö from above. Unlike many radical transport visions that require overhauling existing infrastructure, this concept integrates elevated walkways and cycle paths seamlessly into the city's transport network. This ensures emergency services, postal services, and other essential functions remain unaffected while enhancing connectivity, safety, and sustainability.
Rooftop Skybridges Malmö envisions a future where cities like Malmö embrace elevated cycle paths and green spaces as a sustainable and innovative mode of transportation.
The project was in collaboration with K2, Sweden's national knowledge center for collective mobility, for an exhibition and presentation event.  In the end, my project was one of seven in my class selected to present for the team at K2.
CONCEPT AND IDEA
FINAL VERSIONS AND MOCKUPS
INFORMATION POSTER
Concept:
The primary objective of the informative posters is to improve the navigational experience for both tourists and residents utilizing the skybridges. By providing detailed, easy-to-access information maps at each entrance, and for each sector of the project, visitors can find their way around, understand available facilities, and explore points of interest.

BROCHURE
Concept:
1. Introduction to the Project: A brief section that introduces the project, its significance, and its benefits to both tourists and local residents.

2. Map Section: This part will feature a map highlighting various access points.

3. Rules and Regulations: Adjacent to the map, there will be a concise overview of what is allowed and what isn’t on the skybridges. This will ensure all visitors understand and comply with the guidelines to maintain safety and enjoyment for everyone.
Section: Introduction to the Project
Welcome to Malmö, where empty rooftops are transformed into vibrant, green spaces. Our rooftop gardens and walkways offer not only environmental benefits like improved air quality and increased biodiversity but also serve as social gathering spots and active transport routes.

Why visit Malmö’s green rooftop bridges?

-Environmental Benefits:
Cools down the city and contributes to increased biodiversity and cleaner air.
-Social Meeting Places:
Ideal for activities, studying, or hanging out with friends. Take a break from the hectic urban environment.
-Active Transport:
Safe, elevated walking and cycling paths make your journey both more enjoyable and greener. An option to be active, reduce your carbon footprint, and enjoy fresh air.
-City Connections:
These green corridors not only enhance the city’s aesthetic value but also its functional cohesion. By connecting different parts of Malmö, we help residents and tourists explore the city with ease and safety.

This vision of green rooftops is part of Malmö's strategy for sustainable development and urban renewal, creating an alternative mode of transportation for the future.
Come experience Malmö from above—welcome up!
TOURIST MAP
This overarching map would serve as a visual guide to the entire project, providing a clear overview and highlighting key features.
The idea is to design a full map that complements the detailed section maps. It would show all entrances to the skybridge and briefly indicate what facilities can be found at each location. This would not only help in navigation but also enhance the understanding of the project's scope and layout.
POSTER
For the poster I opted for a more minimalist design, aiming to symbolize a top-down perspective. The design symbolizes skybridges interconnecting buildings, with the letters themselves represented as buildings.
